Imagine if men had mens no, not men having culturally diverse men , and then on your first period cue celebratory fireworks some adult would step in and tell you to wipe your bloody underwear all over your face really, you have to wash it first but since you don t wash it with soap, well, don t get me started why the absence of micelles would freak me out in pursuit of a porcelain face Here s the thing, in reality you need a face of clay and heat it up to 1300degC That s masculinity bei Imagine if men had mens no, not men having culturally diverse men , and then on your first period cue celebratory fireworks some adult would step in and tell you to wipe your bloody underwear all over your face really, you have to wash it first but since you don t wash it with soap, well, don t get me started why the absence of micelles would freak me out in pursuit of a porcelain face Here s the thing, in reality you need a face of clay and heat it up to 1300degC That s masculinity being ripped out of someone s balls on his first period I ve had the pleasure of meeting Ms Bebang twice The second one was on September 15 I was held at gunpoint and either I buy this book or I die Just kidding Anyway, I understand why this book has this kind of humor, but I think this isn t even half as funny as the author herself, in person I never laughed out loud while reading this as the other reviewers have claimed and it doesn t bode well with me because something might be wrong with me, or wronger since I already am wrong in many places. To be fair, I don t really laugh at any book even if my mind says it s funny Only awful books make me laugh out loud, and always concluded with a scoff Then a physical book would hit a wall or an e book go straight to recycle bin But this book made me smile a few times I like how she uses words like pekpek, as if she s referring only to a leche flan Some stories are also relatable As a child, I often heard adults discussing adult issues It gets worse when your presence is acknowledged and you hear your parents talk about financial problems That s one of the reasons I grew up guilty enjoying small luxuries There are also stories that make your heart go out for her It seems, that Ms Bebang never really had the chance to take roots Nothing s unclear than growing up with a family falling apart as the backdrop Whenever I think of it, my mind always wander back to the image of a young girl eating porridge that tasted nothing like food but mother s tears I only now realized that this Bebang Siy is the same Beverly Siy with Sir Ronald I met during a writing workshop around early last year with CYWA in Cavite Funny lang I think hindi pa published tong book All I know, she s one of the editors of Monster Press.Awesome lang hehe Review to follow nalang Thank you for this One of the best Filipino books I ve read. Bebang Siy s essays and poetry are oftentimes funny because she likes using humor to relate significant events in different stages of her life that otherwise would have turned shallow in the hands of another writer Prude readers would be shocked by her no holds barred use of vulgar Tagalog words but I find it quite fitting and effective because in the first place, she s telling her truth in a very personal way I find her very courageous in Sa Ganitong Paraan Daw Namatay si Kuya Dims Her Bebang Siy s essays and poetry are oftentimes funny because she likes using humor to relate significant this essay reminds me that it is so muchdifficult to raise girls precisely because you have to tell them early on that they need to take care of themselves and teach them how to recognize when others are taking advantage of them and yes, you have to be quite specific And because I am a stickler for details, I got confused when I went back to reading the essay It s a Mens World because she used the word stepmother but in the later essays she did not mention that her father remarried Did I miss something Eto nga naman si Beverleh este si Bebang makulay mag kwento kasing kulay ng kanyang mga something about that is very personal for her What she wrote about is not uncommon but she wrote them like a comedy of life therefore a comedy of truths.Nagustuhan ko yung kuwentong pambata nya na Marne Marino It reminded me of The Little Prince Halos kasing edad ko ang author so I am really impressed with her many accomplishments despite the many hardships, obstacles and challenges that she experienced and still going to everyday.Ganun nga talaga ang buhay madugo din you just have to survive and be thankful for another day to live with your love ones.I rarely read local authors especially written in tagalog, as a bisaya hindi ako fluent in tagalog so i have difficulty understanding some slang tagalog words kahit na sariling wika pa ito Imagine binasa ko pa pati ang pasasalamat portion nya pagkatapos kong basahin ang libro Salamat na rin sa mga co readers ko for picking this one for our book of the month this April.Onething, i am very happy na kahit gaanong kabungangera ng nanay ni Bebang tanggap nya lahat ng imperfections nya bilang ina at mahal parin nya eto bilang ina nila For me that is one of the greatest love I have experienced a recent loss of my dear mother about two years ago, kaya I can relate kung for Bebang that there will be no other father in the world for her when he died Cancer ang ikanamatay ng mama ko Kung naging manunulat ako katulad ni Bebang at nag sulat din parang ganito, alam ko kung sino ang unang una kong pasasalamatan ang mama ko syempre Thanks for the million milk shakes ma For a while, this book was out of stock
